The Pass it Forward Campaign
Athletes Helping Athletes, Students Helping Students
The CAN Fútbol Foundation is founded upon the belief that when youth are given the support and direction they need then they CAN overcome any hurdle to achieving success. Over the last three years this theory has been proven to be true through our operations in the tiny villages of El Bight & Oak Ridge, on the island of Roatán, Honduras.
The Student-Athlete Model
The main goal of CANFF is to keep kids in school and on the right track. This is not an easy task, especially in the impoverished slums of Central America. Our program has been successful by offering our youth an incentive that they crave: fútbol (soccer).
We provide our student-athlete with gear & equipment, while also paying their league fees and the salary of a first-rate club coach. In return all student-athletes are required to do three many duties:
1) Stay in school & keep their grades up
- We require all of our kids to keep a 85% or higher grade average and have positive conduct reports from their teachers.2) Participate in community service
- Each of our kids to give back to their community. Please watch the video above to some of our mot recent community service projects. Other recent service projects include:- repainting more than 10 school classrooms,
- collecting & recycling more than 200 lbs of plastic litter,
- and plant more than 30 coconuts palmtrees.
3) Good moral character on & off the field
- Our student-athletes are expected to be role-models to our youth at all times. The avoid alcohol, drugs, profanity, and other bad behavior so as to be a positive image to youths and adults alike.Help Us Keep The Ball Rolling, Donate Today!
The costs of keeping a soccer club of 200+ youths operating is difficult and at times expensive. The costs include:
- league fees for each youth
- monthly salary for the club coach
- shipping costs for sending jerseys, cleats, shinguards, etc. to the island and the year tournament on the mainland.
- transportation costs for getting players to matches in other villages on other sides of the island.
- and many, many other costs.
Here is where you can help & be part of the team!
Your donation will go directly to help pay for our youth program. All funds collected will help cover the operating costs for the 2012 fiscal year. Without support from donors like you we wouldn't be able to help these kids.
